That Doesn’t Count!

Normally, we aren’t too vocal about what’s happening in the world of golf, but this was just too good not to share with our fans. While getting prepared to tee off during the second round at the Augusta National Golf Club, 2007 Masters champion Zach Johnson hit his ball during his practice swing. We don’t feel the need to go to into detail on this, but let’s just leave it as that being a “no-no” when it comes to golf.

In the video below, you can see him clip the ball, causing it to bounce off the tee marker and only land a few yards ahead of him. For clarity, this is definitely NOT a common occurrence, especially when competing at Masters. In the end, Johnson wasn’t penalized for his flub and did pretty well on that hole, but it was fun watching him have a moment of panic. Hopefully he’s laughing it off now with the rest of us.

Being the fans of football that we know you are, we’re sure you’ve seen some serious mistakes on the field more than a few times. Typically, those moments will get dropped into a highlight reel and follow a player around for the rest of the week, often until they’ve completed their next game without a similar mistake and/or have found a way to redeem themselves. We’d like to see our athletes own their mistakes and find a way to laugh along with the rest of us, as opposed to pouting on the sidelines.
