Talk About a Come Up

Posted on February 4, 2020

By Annalece Anhalt-Slaughter

Most of the headlines about the Chiefs winning Super Bowl have revolved around Andy Reid deserving his first Super Bowl win, Patrick Mahomes proving the Madden curse wrong, and Kyle Shanahan blowing another lead in the Super Bowl, but our favorite that weโ€™ve come across is all about Rashad Fenton. The DB has a long history with Hard Rock Stadium โ€“ he worked there at the concession stand while he was growing up just a few minutes away. He got started in concessions thanks to Miami Norland Senior High School, which had football students doing mandatory volunteer work assigned by their coaches. To go from serving pizzas and nachos, to winning his first Super Bowl โ€“ weโ€™d call that a come-up.

Would the fans define this as a Cinderella story? While it is a great one, we donโ€™t think the fans would qualify it as one. But do we think the fans can appreciate the triumphant experience of Fenton going from concession worker to World Champion in the same stadium? Definitely. And do we think the fans are excited to learn the stories of all the athletes weโ€™ll have waiting to be drafted to an FCFL team? Without a doubt!

FCFL Fans Accurately Predict Super Bowl LIV Outcome

Posted on February 3, 2019

By Annalece Anhalt-Slaughter

Super Bowl LIV did NOT disappoint! Last night we were given a close game, multiple turnovers, and some decent officiating – the latter being the most surprising ๐Ÿ˜ We’re just glad that this game didn’t rely entirely on kicking! Ultimately, the Kansas City Chiefs that came out on top – much to the disappointment of San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, who blew yet another Super Bowl lead. While many thought the game was over when the 49ers gained a 20-10 lead going into the fourth quarter, they were dead wrong. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs fired back with 21 unanswered points, giving Andy Reid the Super Bowl he worked so hard for. When asked how he planned to celebrate, Reid quickly answered: “With the biggest cheeseburger you’ve ever seen.” Honestly, if we were the ones who just won the Super Bowl after 21 seasons as an NFL head coach, we’d probably say the same thing.

The best part about last night’s game? Our fans just knew the Chiefs would come out on top. We polled across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and the results were clear. All combined, 57% of fans chose the Chiefs over the 49ers.

And if you need another reason to know why our fans are THE BEST – they called the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl back in September. Yes, they may not have picked the San Francisco 49ers to represent the NFC, but they did pick the Chiefs to take it all.

If there is anything we learned from this football season, it’s that our fans know what they’re talking about! We’re more confident now than ever before that putting them in control of their team’s fate is the right call. Now let’s gear up fot the inaugural season of the Fan Controlled Football League!

Ask Johnny

Posted on August 20, 2019

While everyone was trying to get through the last Monday before college football officially returns, the folks at Bleacher Report set up an AMA with Johnny Manziel. You may remember him as the guy who looked really unhappy while waiting for his NFL Draft Pick to come through in 2014 (as pictured above), just one more Cleveland Browns QB to completely flop, or as the guy who couldn’t seem to stay out of trouble no matter how hard he tried. Either way, you know him, and the results of his AMA were pure gold. Some of the important things we learned about good ol’ Johnny Football are:

  1. He thinks he can out-chug Baker Mayfield (honestly, so do we)
  2. He thinks Kyle Shanahan (San Francisco) is one of the best coaches in the NFL
  3. He hasn’t ruled out a return to football ๐Ÿ‘€
  4. He’s got either Clemson or Alabama winning it all this year
  5. He’s picking the New Orleans Saints for this year’s Super Bowl Champions

It’s been about a year since we last had the Co-Founders sit down for an AMA on Twitch, and are planning on doing another one in the near future. But who else would the fans be interested in hearing from? The obvious answer is our Team Owners | Fan Captains, which certainly isn’t out of the realm of possibility, but what about the athletes trying out for the league? We think the fans would love the opportunity to pick the brains of some of these guys ahead of our draft, just to make sure they are the right fit for their team. We’re not going to throw out a Field of Dreams “if you build it, they will come,” reference, but… we want to give the fans what they want! Let us know what you think!
