Kinda Funny Is Out Here Making Deals

Posted on July 9, 2019

By Annalece Anhalt-Slaughter

Over the holiday weekend while we were more focused on *not* blowing off our fingers with fireworks, FCFL Team Owner | Fan Captains Greg Miller and Kinda Funny were busy making their first team personnel decision: signing their water boy. As you can see from the photo below, the contract was executed in the most official way possible.

While the position of water boy isn’t fan controlled like the Offensive and Defensive Coordinators, it could be the most crucial (come on, did you see The Waterboy?!). Considering this was an ‘internal hire’ on Kinda Funny’s part, we’re wondering who the fans would want to see take over that position for some of the other teams. We think for guys like Richard Sherman and Marshawn Lynch, the fans would want to see some of their current and former teammates – could you imagine Russell Wilson running around tossing out water bottles? For Prince Royce, we think the fans might like to see someone he’s collaborated with in the past, or maybe his Lip Sync Battle foe, Lele Pons? Let us know who you want to see slinging those water bottles!

USWNT Win Big at FIFA Women’s World Cup

*Puts ‘We Are the Champions’ by Queen on repeat*

Yesterday the world was watching as the U.S. Women’s National Team took home their FOURTH FIFA Women’s World Cup Championship! Yes, that is four out of the total eight Women’s World Cups (they’ve medaled in all eight, by the way). The USWNT had us sitting on the edge of our seats up until the very end, but thankfully for all of us, they put away another win with a final score of 2-0. And when we say the world was watching – we mean everyone! Even FCFL Team Owner | Fan Captain Richard Sherman was congratulating the ladies on Twitter on their back-to-back championships.

Following their win, the crowd wasn’t just cheering “U-S-A” though – they were chanting “Equal Pay!” We think this historic win provides reason for why the women deserve to have their pay equal that of the men’s team members, who, just for the record, have only medaled once in FIFA World Cup history (Bronze, 1930). We’ve made ourselves clear here, and we think the fans might agree. Aside from those that were literally chanting for it in the stands, we also know our fans believe impeccable athletes deserve to be compensated for their talent.

FCFL Takes On Lip Sync Battle

Posted on June 28, 2019

By Annalece Anhalt-Slaughter

You read that right, fans! FCFL Team Owner | Fan Captain Prince Royce appeared on last night’s episode of Lip Sync Battle to face off against Lele Pons. h pulled out a rendition of “Versace on the Floor” by Bruno Mars to start off with, before moving on to a show-stopping version of “Fireball” by Pitbull. We think we can speak for everyone that saw his performance when we say that Prince Royce makes a better Pitbull than Mr. 305 himself. It was a no brainer for the fans to make the decision, crowning Prince Royce Lip Sync Battle champion. That’s right, we’ve got a champion on our hands before the season even starts. Let’s just hope that he wears his belt proudly to each game!

We want to hear from the fans, if we set up a Lip Sync Battle-type competition between all the Team Owners | Fan Captains that have been named, who do you think would take home the title of champion? Sure Bobby Bones has some moves after competing on Dancing with the Stars and sings in his band, but we get the feeling that Greg Miller from Kinda Funny might have some hidden talents to showcase on stage. Maybe Richard Sherman is secretly the best dancer and is just waiting for a platform to wow us with his skills. But at the end of the day, if we were the fans, we’d keep our money on Prince Royce after that performance!

Yesterday, FCFL Co-Founder and CEO Sohrob Farudi joined Brandon McNulty (Legends) at the Technology Innovation Forum’s ‘Future of Sports’ panel. Sohrob was able to share what makes the FCFL so special and answer some questions from the crowd.

1. Where did you and your fellow Co-Founders got the idea for the FCFL? And how will fans be able to engage in your league any differently than they do with the NFL, IFL or AFL?

2. A couple months ago the Alliance of American Football, or the AAF folded in a very public way, drawing in criticism for all other football leagues trying to get off the ground. What are you doing differently to make sure you don’t end up the same way?

2019-20 NFL Schedule Released

Posted on April 18, 2019

By Annalece Anhalt-Slaughter

Yesterday, NFL fans were sitting on the edge of their seats, waiting for the 2019 season schedule to FINALLY be released. Even though there were plenty of leaked games, and an entire Twitter account dedicated to sharing completely made-up match-ups, it wasn’t until 5pm PT that fans could finally begin planning their schedules for the fall (us included). More importantly, the 32 NFL teams had the opportunity to share their schedules in their own ways.

The Los Angeles Chargers went with both an infographic to drive the point home that they had switched back to their powder blue uniforms and a video of amazing stock footage that represents each one of their opponents. The Cleveland Browns went with a clip showcasing how outdated their front office really is. The Denver Broncos gave us an inside look at their team’s group text looked like following the schedule release. And last but not least, the Atlanta Falcons threw some serious shade at the New Orleans Saints with their Game of Thrones-themed video. As you see the Saints marching into the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, a loose ram knocks one of them down before a referee runs out to say there was no pass interference. This would probably be more fitting if it were the Los Angeles Rams making the joke, but from a team that blew a 28-3 lead in Super Bowl LI, it just looks petty and smells of desperation.

Obviously, we can’t announce our league schedule until we have announced the remaining Team Owners | Fan Captains and you have named your teams. But once all of that business is settled, we can’t wait to see how you put your own twist on your team’s schedules! Maybe don’t go with something as visually-aggressive as the NFL did (seriously, what were they thinking?). But we want to see you fans really own your team personality and take whatever shots necessary at your opponents. We expect to see some serious trash talking from the fans of Richard Sherman and Kinda Funny’s respective teams. We hope to see all of you Prince Royce fans take some subtle digs at the other teams while making sure your guys look as badass as possible. Whatever you do, just don’t be as lame as the Los Angeles Rams or Cincinnatti Bengals with their announcements.

You Can’t Believe Everything You Read On the Internet

It’s April 1st, which can only mean one thing: if you are even the slightest bit gullible. you should absolutely, 100%, avoid the internet today. Even more so if you are a person who lives for sports. Your usual stomping grounds like Instagram and Twitter are no longer safe.

Athletes and teams all over the country will likely be trying to up their game from previous years – especially the Arizona Cardinals, Arizona Coyotes, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Anthony Davis. They’ve already proven that they are dirty liars and cannot be trusted on April Fools’ Day.

You know who you can trust though? The Chicago Bears. Just this morning they unveiled plans for their new historic jersey, just in time for a historic year. For this year, and this year only, the Bears will be supporting the NFL’s 100th season by adding a ‘1’ to the front of every player’s jersey. Stars like Khalil Mack and Mike Davis are getting pretty hyped up for their new jerseys!

And on that note, we’d like to announce that the FCFL has actually signed NFL Free Agent and FCFL Team Owner | Fan Captain Marshawn Lynch, to Richard Sherman’s team. Rumor has it, he will be wearing #224, because we’re twice as good as the Chicago Bears and the NFL’s 100th season.

#Gotcha!
